Yesterday the first crop estimate for the 2019 crop for South Africa came out, and the numbers for peanuts are shocking low. Initially the planting intentions were for 50.000 ha, but due to unfavourable weather conditions, only 19.200 ha were actually planted. A reduction of 65,90 percent compared to last year. South Africa will have to rely on imports again, since already the 2018 crop was not sufficient to fulfil the total domestic demand
